Re: RetroN 5 Factory Reset Instructions
I've located Linux specific factory reset instructions here: http://retron5.in/node/7
It is recommended you visit Hyperkin's website above for these steps as they may change.
I've quoted them here for archival purposes in the off change the site is ever down.

I love how badly numbered the above information is, which I have copied exactly.RetroN 5 Factory Reset Instructions using a Linux machine
Following is tested on an Ubuntu Installation, most other Linux’s or Posix machines should be similar
1. Download the File
2. wget http://www.retron5.in/downloads/boot-re ... v0.2.2.zip
3. Extract from zip, using the following line
4. >unzip boot-recovery-SD-fullreset-v0.2.2.zip
5. Insert the SD card you are going to use into your Linux machine, the contents of the SD card will be completely overwritten so make sure there is nothing you don’t want to lose!
Find where the SD card is using one of the miriad of methods available to Linux users such as
6. lsblk
7. or
8. sudo sfdisk -l
9. are just two examples.
10. On my PC the SD card is drive sdd. Notice you may have other devices like sdd1 sdd2 etc. You should use the Physical drive which is just the letters without any trailing numbers. in my case that is sdd.
11. Now copy the boot image to the SD drive
sudo dd if=boot-recovery-SD-fullreset-v0.2.2.img of=/dev/sdd
Remembering to replace sdd with the correct drive letter of your SD card. Once finished remove the SD from your machine and insert into the Retron 5 and boot.

Re: RetroN 5 Factory Reset Instructions | Windows & Linux
I followed the steps for windows.
Once in Recovery Mode, I am not able to navigate the menu... I have the controller plugged to the usb port at the back (I tested with 2 controllers). Does the "wired controller" need to be on either on the other slots ? (meaning that I need a Super Nintendo controller).
It was the second time I booted the console. And it went to a loop on the Retron 5 Logo at the beginning... All I did the first time was to turn off the console at the "TV screen adjustment setting" screen.

Yeah try a nes super etc not the bluetooth one
Re: RetroN 5 Factory Reset Instructions | Windows & Linux
I did work with an old NES controller. I was able to navigate through the Recovery Menu and do a Factory Reset.
No more boot loop problem after that.
Thank you all for your help.
