Slammasters for genesis

Just got this game and noticed it freezes during the ring entrance in single player mode. I have to push power off on the retro to get out of the screen. This happened 5 times in a row. I also noticed playing gba sf alpha 3 the same thing happened in the middle of a match....any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated
