Problems with trying to update to v0.3.0

Hello, I have never once updated this console as when I bought the Retron 5, it already was preinstalled with 2.2 software which was fine with me, but seeing there is newer updates that can be put onto the console i was rather stoked to see what changes have been made.
I followed the instructions for the first part as of course I have lower graded system software and saved that file onto an SD card to install onto the console.
When inserting the SD card into the Retron 5 and having it attempt to install, it just sits there 'installing' for a good 30-40 minutes before finally giving up with an error - 1001 or 1002 and then asks to reboot.
Now thankfully I am grateful this did not corrupt or destroy my save data on my games mostly due to my playthrough with my copy of Super Metroid, but I would like to at least get my console update to date with any new goodies put into the software.
Is the link the Retron 5 posted on their official site corrupt or just not working?
I tried extracting the file using both windows zip and Winrar and both have the same end result which is rather disappointing.
