Ultimate Mortal Kombat Trilogy | UMK3 Genesis (*Update)

Post by hikaricore » September 25th, 2014, 12:41 am

Ok so it seems the files on Romhacking.net for this hack are even more out of date than the original author's website. After much digging and language frustration I have located what I believe to be the most recent release of 5125 (aka v23). I have created new patches for both the standard and +tracks versions and have posted them below indicating release/version number. The release is also referred to in the files as "fixed" meaning there's likey a bad version out there somewhere as well. Links to the updated content are below.

Ultimate Mortal Kombat Trilogy by KABAL_MK | Complete Game Hack
Console Name: Genesis
Base Game Required: Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
Compatible ROM Name: "Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (U) [!]"
Download: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/1059/ (outdated version)
Homepage: http://umk3.hacking-cult.org/eng/ (very outdated and dead links)
Updated Info: http://romhacking.net.ru/news/anons_kha ... 02-20-2567
Updated Release: http://romhacking.net.ru/news/reliz_ult ... 03-31-2621
Moves/Codes: http://www.angelfire.com/va3/mk/fan_made/umkt_main.htm

Note about patches: I created two patches for ease of use and I've been able to successfully test the first patch and everything seems to be working, however the second track which adds/updates music causes my Retron 5 to crash so I've been less successful with this. I suspect this larger track is causing the rom to exceed allowable size (10mb?) which then results in the Genesis emulator erring out, though I only see my system restarting endlessly. If anyone else can test and see if they are seeing similar results it would be appreciated. :)

IPS Patches (4978 v21):
http://www.mediafire.com/download/p3w2p ... d/UMKT.ips (tested working with UMK3)
http://www.mediafire.com/download/uo4iv ... Tracks.ips (untested seems to crash console)

Note about updated patches: I haven't tested either of these. Probably tomorrow unless I don't do it.

Updated IPS Patches (5125 v23 (fixed)):
http://www.mediafire.com/download/hhil3 ... KT5125.ips (untested)
http://www.mediafire.com/download/386ft ... Tracks.ips (untested)

Features:
  • This is a hack of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 for the Sega Genesis.
  • It adds nearly all legit characters from Mortal Kombat 1, 2, and Trilogy, and re-adds the missing Sheeva.
  • The only character not included is the MK3 version of Noob Saibot.
  • It also adds backgrounds, new moves, combos, finishing moves, and missing audio samples are restored.
  • It’s the ultimate Mortal Kombat hack.

The quantity of stuff this hack adds is incredible. Every character from MK1-MKT minus MK3 Noob Saibot. The new moves can be cheesy at time but they are still a good addition. Overall the additional stuff enhances the game and makes it that much deeper. Recommended.

Just watched the video. The animations for a lot of the moves aren't even close to correct. Like the jump kicks, punches, and reptiles acid spit.
